The Ivy Coach Daily
Georgetown University Class of 2029 Early Action Admission Statistics

In mid-December of 2024, Georgetown University released Early Action decisions for the Class of 2029 but did not release any admissions data to accompany these decisions. We don’t yet know how many applicants received this news with a celebration and how many must continue the fight for admission post-deferral. Still, we do know that Georgetown will eventually have to release this data in the federally mandated Common Data Set, and when they do, Ivy Coach will be the first to report back!
At this time last year, we similarly did not yet know how the Class of 2028 fared, but when that data arrived, we learned that 8,584 students had applied while only 881 were granted admission, for an overall EA acceptance rate of 10.26%. This time around, the college admissions landscape is still reeling from a year of widespread turmoil. While Georgetown was not among the schools most impacted by lousy PR, the outcome of this most recent EA cycle could significantly influence students’ perceptions of the private Jesuit institution as other elite colleges continue to face challenges.
Georgetown Early Action Admissions Statistics Over 10+ Years
As we patiently await Early Action data for the Class of 2029, let’s take a historical look at Georgetown’s EA cycles past. Last year’s pool of 8,584 applicants was by no means the largest in the school’s history (that designation goes to the Class of 2026, which set records across the elite college sphere that largely have not been broken to this day), and the 10.26% acceptance rate was the second-lowest ever recorded (again, failing to beat out 2026). However, as the data indicates, Georgetown’s EA acceptance rate has trended downward over the last 14 years.
Below is a breakdown of Georgetown’s Early Action admission statistics over the last 14 years:

Breakdown of Georgetown’s Class of 2029 Early Action Admits
While no demographic details have yet emerged of Georgetown’s Early Action admits to the Class of 2029, Ivy Coach will report these figures as soon as they become available, and dissect them for all they might reveal about how Georgetown is adapting to a post-Affirmative Action world — one, of course, where the Roberts Loophole, a legal provision that allows students to write about their identities in the written portion of their applications, is still in effect.
Ivy Coach’s Assistance with Georgetown Deferral
If Georgetown deferred you in the Early Action round for the Class of 2029, hold onto the faith that you should have (hopefully!) expressed on your application to align yourself with Georgetown’s Jesuit values. Impress them with your sincerity and restraint instead of bragging to the Georgetown admissions office about all you’ve achieved in the weeks since you applied. How? Through a Letter of Continued Interest, of course! Ivy Coach’s team of former elite college admissions officers will help you craft a letter that optimizes your odds of admission to Georgetown post-deferral. But before we can do that, we must understand what went wrong with your application in the first place and give you the tools you need to strategically reorient your case for admission around a singular admissions hook.
